This is my extra project. I did this by throwing a vase and adding vines and a rose to it from a soft slab. I glazed the base clear, the vines with green stain, the rose with pink/red stain and clear over the top. The art elements I used were color and texture and the design elements I used were emphasis and balance. I learned to make vines and little roses after doing this project.

This is one of my choice projects. I did soft slabs of clay and punched out circle shapes and carved out holes to create the ornament look. I printed out the names of all my family members and added glass shards for a more exciting feel. This was my first time making ornaments so that was a new skill I learned. The art element I used was shape. This is my lidded project which I threw on the wheel. I carved out little holes to make it more of a candle holder. I used dark brown glaze with light blue glaze on the lid and parts of the actual candle holder. I had made a lidded project previously so I was reminded how to create a lid, however for the first time I carved out holes to make it a candle holder. An art element I used was form. This project gives off a comforting feel. This is my groups fraken pot. Each of the three pieces were made on the wheel. I did the base, Kevin did the middle, and Charlotte did the top. This was my first time making a fraken pot so I was able to learn how to use the calipers for the sizing. The art elements used for this project were color and texture. The design elements used were movement. Overall this project was very fun to do and I can use my new skills to make other projects. This is my wheel alter project which I did on the wheel and I also used stain during this project as well. A new skill I used during this project was being able to use stain and I also threw with sea mix which has been new to me lately as well. The art elements I used were space and color. And the design elements I used were contrast and rythm. This project gives off a joyful feeling with the bright colors. This was my first choice project which I did on the wheel and I also experimented with stain for this project. During this project I learned how to successfully throw a vase. The art elements I used for this project was color and texture. The design element I used was movement. This is my set of three project. I made my mugs on the wheel and one thing I learned for this project was being able to make a sturdy handle. The art elements used in my mugs are color and shape. I tried to create three slightly different shapes of mugs. The design element I used was pattern which followed through with each of the three mugs. They give off a calm feeling. This is my tall project, in which I decided to make a vase by using the wheel. The color of my pitcher is coated in a dark brown and is smooth throughout. In order to fabricate this project I re-learned to make a handle and lip in order to make it look like a pitcher. The main art element in this project would be shape and the main design element would be balance. The skills and design elements used for this project show a sense of contemptness and simplicity.
These are my two plates, which I threw on the wheel. I was experimenting with size so I decided to make one plate a bit larger and the other smaller. This was my first time throwing a plate so that was the new skill I was able to learn. The art elements involved in this project are value, line, and color. The design elements involved in my plates are contrast, movement, and rhythm. The idea of my plates were to express movement through the waves.
This was my first project, two wheel bowls. The size of these bowls are pretty much the same size however the front left one is wheel altered a bit. They are both very smooth and follow somewhat of the same glazing style. On the front bowl I glazed it all in white and then did green drips from the outside edge. On the back bowl I glazed one side in white, the other in black and also did green drops on the outside edge on the white side. The new skill I learned in order to do this project was how to do the wheel alter. The main art element expressed in these bowls are value as shown with the white glaze and the dark green. The main design element expressed in these bowls are contrast between the light and dark colors. The art and design elements used for these bowls give off a calm feeling. |
